The day Princess Diana died was one of the first events that I truly felt the world coming together in a common bond. She was beautiful, a devoted mother and who could ignore her selfless use of fame as she helped those in need. So, it's no wonder that many people know where they were when the news broke out of her death. In the days that followed, I watched as people gathered in different nations mourning England's Princess ... as if she were the Princess for us all.
Elton John's poignant tribute to her was moving, the rearrangement of this song (originally written for Marilyn Monroe) was befitting ... and knowing they were such good friends, yet had a recent falling out, made the touching performance that much more heartbreaking.
